BoomTown is our provisional pick for teams that want to outsource human lead qualification. BoldTrail, the next generation of kvCORE, is our provisional pick for brokerage governance across company leads and agents' personal databases. Those recommendations address different operating problems. A team with unanswered inquiries needs response coverage; a broker distributing company-generated leads needs enforceable ownership and routing rules.

Research checked October 14, 2026. This comparison uses public vendor documentation and our tool records, without hands-on testing, negotiated proposals or access to your brokerage agreement. Inside Real Estate owns both platforms, so you are comparing products within one supplier's portfolio. Our BoomTown review and kvCORE review provide the individual product records.

Feature differences that decide the purchase

Human qualification: start with BoomTown

BoomTown has the clearest documented service for outsourcing initial lead conversations in this matchup. Its Success Assurance page describes US-based human concierges, 24/7 engagement, nurturing for up to one year and live transfers. Ask for the service scope and price separately from the platform quote.

That distinction matters if your agents are in showings when new inquiries arrive. A human qualification service can handle the first conversation and pass the prospect to an agent. Your agents handle the handoff and subsequent follow-up. Establish who handles missed transfers, how qualification notes enter the CRM and what happens when a prospect needs help outside your service area.

BoldTrail's Smart CRM documentation emphasizes automated follow-up triggered by website behavior, including texts and similar-property emails. The public evidence supports BoomTown as the human-service pick. It does not establish that BoldTrail lacks every comparable paid service. Ask sales to demonstrate any proposed equivalent before treating automation and concierge coverage as interchangeable.

Brokerage governance: start with BoldTrail

BoldTrail documents the separation of private agent CRMs from company-generated leads, plus routing by source, location and price. Its Smart CRM page also describes accountability rules that remove agents from routing when they fail to follow up. That is a concrete basis for our brokerage pick.

Test the policy you actually intend to enforce. Ask the salesperson to create one company-owned lead and one agent-owned contact, assign each to a team member, then show what an administrator can see or change. Next, demonstrate how an agent becomes ineligible for new assignments. A demo that matches your ownership policy is more useful than a general permissions tour.

BoomTown also offers routing and accountability, with capabilities varying across its packages. BoldTrail earns this provisional recommendation because its public documentation directly addresses the company-versus-agent governance question. We have not measured either platform's administration workflow or proved that BoomTown cannot implement your rules.

Website activity and communications: check the operating limits

Both products connect IDX websites to follow-up workflows. The deciding question is how you will act on browsing activity. Ask BoldTrail to show the path from a returning visitor viewing listings to an automated message, and ask BoomTown to show how the same event affects agent tasks or concierge handling. Inspect the resulting contact history.

BoldTrail's published communication schedule adds a budgeting consideration beyond the feature labels. For 1-249 users, BASE lists 1,000 contact records and 60 monthly text credits per agent, PLUS lists 1,500 records and 60 text credits, and PRO lists 2,000 records and 80 text credits. These are sourced details absent from our current tier table, and the signed agreement can specify different allowances.

Bring your database size and typical outreach volume to the quote discussion. An import exceeding the contact allowance or campaigns exceeding text credits could change the package you need. Public documentation reviewed for this comparison did not establish overage prices, so there is no defensible total for those scenarios.

Integrations: verify a workflow rather than count logos

Neither platform earns an exclusive integration winner from this research. BoomTown's integration directory includes native and Zapier-powered connections. BoldTrail documents API Nation connections and Zapier workflows. Both document dotloop support.

Use an existing lead source and transaction workflow as the demo brief. Check where a contact enters, which fields arrive and whether later updates travel back. Connector fees and permissions belong in the written proposal. For example, BoldTrail's API Nation documentation identifies a Follow Up Boss-to-BoldTrail lead transfer; that evidence alone does not establish an included, direct, two-way CRM connection.

Pricing and total cost

A custom quote is required for both a solo agent and a five-person team on either platform. The BoomTown package page and BoldTrail pricing page publish packaging without base subscription prices. The tier tables on this page come from our tool records. No public evidence supports naming a cheaper platform or calculating a complete monthly or first-year total.

Solo agent paying independently

BoomTown Launch lists two included users. That allowance does not establish a discounted single-user price. Ask for the base subscription, setup charge, applicable MLS charges and any Success Assurance service cost, with advertising separated from the software subscription.

For BoldTrail, request a single-user quote with your MLS and actual contact count. The vendor's kvCORE-to-BoldTrail explanation warns that the full platform may be excessive for a brand-new solo agent. Check existing brokerage access before adding another contract. Brokerage-provided access is part of a brokerage agreement, not a free public plan, and your brokerage's technology fees or optional purchases may still affect what you pay.

Neither platform earns an unconditional recommendation for a new solo agent paying independently. Without a quote and an operating need for the broader platform, a comparison of public package names cannot settle the purchase.

Five-person team

BoomTown Core lists five included users, making it a sensible configuration to quote. Count everyone who needs a login, including a separate administrator. Also request any alternative configuration sales recommends; public information cannot establish which five-user arrangement costs least.

The BoomTown billing FAQ publishes a $35 additional-user fee, qualified by platform variation, and an advertising-management fee of 15% of the previous month's actual advertising spend. These supplementary fees also appear in our tool record. The same official source identifies possible MLS pass-through and integration charges that the current tier table does not capture. Keep them as separate quote lines so you can verify the proposal against the source.

For BoldTrail, quote five users on the package that covers your contacts and communication usage. Include any required back-office or recruiting products explicitly. Transaction-management integration in BASE does not establish that a complete BackOffice subscription is included; the vendor's product explanation says broader modules can cost extra.

Compare the first-year commitment using the same seats, MLS coverage and required services. Ask each vendor to identify one-time charges, recurring charges and usage-dependent costs. A lower software line alone cannot establish a lower total when the proposals contain different services.

Contract and launch questions before signing

Monthly billing does not establish a monthly cancellation right. BoomTown's FAQ describes 12-month partnerships and a typical 30-day launch dependent on collaboration. It also says leads are not guaranteed. Use those statements to set expectations without treating the launch window as a promise or the lead service as a guaranteed return.

Inside Real Estate's general terms specify the initial term in the agreement, automatic 12-month renewals unless written cancellation arrives at least 30 days before term end, and possible remaining-term fees for early termination without cause. Signed ordering information supersedes conflicting general terms. Have sales point to the terms incorporated into your particular proposal.

BoldTrail's official billing-start guidance needs clarification. Its onboarding workshop page says billing starts 14 days after signing, while the general terms link recurring subscription billing to the subscription term and launch. Ask the order form to settle the start date, especially if MLS approval is delayed. Its next-steps page promises initial customer-success outreach within 48 hours, which is different from a completed launch. Public documentation does not support a fastest-implementation winner.

Verdict by use case

Choose BoomTown if

Choose BoomTown when you have a steady flow of inquiries and want a paid human service to qualify prospects before your agents take over. Our provisional recommendation assumes the Success Assurance proposal covers your lead sources, service hours and handoff requirements. Ask for a live-transfer demonstration and confirm the responsibilities left with your team.

For a five-person conversion team, begin with a Core proposal plus the required concierge service. Evaluate it against the response coverage you need and your existing conversion history. Lead volume alone cannot prove payback.

Choose BoldTrail if

Choose BoldTrail when brokerage-owned leads, agent-private databases and routing eligibility are the central buying requirements. Verify your ownership policy in the demo. Price the operational modules separately before deciding to consolidate other software into the same supplier.

If you already use kvCORE through your brokerage, evaluate the BoldTrail migration first. Rollouts are phased, so confirm your enabled features, migration timing and data access before paying to replace an account that may already meet your needs.

Our recommendation

Shortlist BoomTown for outsourced human qualification and BoldTrail for brokerage governance. These provisional picks reflect documented services and policies rather than measured performance. Give each vendor the same workflow brief and request an itemized proposal. The final purchase should follow the demonstrated workflow and signed terms; this research establishes neither a lowest-cost winner nor measured performance superiority.

Is kvCORE now called BoldTrail?

Inside Real Estate describes BoldTrail as the next generation of kvCORE, retaining its CRM and IDX foundation. Existing-account migrations are phased, so confirm your rollout date, package and enabled features before assuming a legacy kvCORE account matches a new BoldTrail proposal.

Should a five-person team choose BoomTown or BoldTrail?

BoomTown is our provisional pick when a five-person team wants to outsource human lead qualification through Success Assurance. Core lists five included users, but concierge scope and pricing require confirmation. BoldTrail is our provisional pick when control over company leads, agent databases and routing eligibility is the main requirement.

How much do BoomTown and BoldTrail cost for a solo agent or five-person team?

Neither vendor publishes enough pricing to calculate a complete solo-agent or five-person total. Both require a custom platform and implementation quote. Compare the same seat count, MLS coverage, communication usage, services and contract length. BoomTown publishes two included users for Launch and five for Core, which are allowances rather than complete prices.

Is brokerage-provided BoldTrail access a free plan?

Brokerage-provided BoldTrail access is access under the brokerage agreement, not a free public plan. Your brokerage may cover the platform subscription, while agents may face optional service charges or brokerage technology fees. Ask which features, usage allowances and export rights apply to your account.

Can I cancel BoomTown or BoldTrail after one month?

Do not assume either platform can be cancelled after one month without further charges. BoomTown describes 12-month partnerships. Inside Real Estate general terms specify the initial term in the agreement, 12-month automatic renewals unless written cancellation arrives at least 30 days before term end, and possible remaining-term fees for early termination without cause. Signed ordering information controls conflicting general terms.

Does BoldTrail include unlimited contacts and texting?

The published BoldTrail schedule for 1-249 users lists per-agent limits, subject to the agreement. BASE lists 1,000 contact records and 60 monthly text credits, PLUS lists 1,500 records and 60 text credits, and PRO lists 2,000 records and 80 text credits. Confirm applicable limits and overage charges in your quote.

Does either platform guarantee enough leads to cover its cost?

No verified return-on-investment guarantee supports this comparison. BoomTown explicitly says it does not guarantee leads. Ask each vendor to explain the contracted services and reporting, then evaluate cost against your own lead sources, response coverage and conversion history.

Can I keep dotloop when switching to BoomTown or BoldTrail?

Both platforms document dotloop connections. Confirm the specific workflow, data direction, supported fields, permissions and any connector charges before signing. An integration listing does not establish that the connection is included in your package or supports two-way synchronization.
